Early
preschool: 2-3 year olds
Two
to three year old curriculum overview
"Discovery Curriculum"
The two/three year old classroom offers a wealth of experience
that enhances the followings:
- Developing each child's positive self image and sense
of independence
- Developing each child's ability to interact in a group.
- Furthering each child's cognitive growth and intellectual
curiosity.
- Nurturing a developing awareness of the world around us.
- Encouraging the development of each child's creative capabilities.
These goals are reached through a consideration of the four
areas in which a child grows: emotional, social, cognitive
and physical. Each of these areas is equally important. The
student learns through exploration, discovery and play - progressing
from solitary and parallel play to cooperative play. The three
year old curriculum includes non directed activities, where
the children make choices from the classroom setting, and
directed activities, where individual and small group instruction
facilitate goal oriented tasks. The children meet new challenges
in a climate of group living that is secure and caring.
